Consultant remuneration is determined based on whether the retired official was a pensioner or a non-pensioner at the time of retirement.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

This recruitment is exclusively for retired personnel from Central Government, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies, Universities, and Government R&D Organizations who retired at the corresponding Pay Level.

  • Post Code 2026/GTRE/338 (Pay Level-12, Technical): Retired at Pay Level-12 from Government/PSU/Autonomous/University/R&D organizations. Must possess practical knowledge and adequate experience in Data Acquisition and Monitoring System (DAMS) with electronics domain expertise, technical coordination for demand purchase activities, and technical documentation / engine test report preparation.
  • Post Code 2026/GTRE/339 (Pay Level-11, Technical): Retired at Pay Level-11 from Government/PSU/Autonomous/University/R&D organizations. Must possess practical knowledge and adequate experience in Technical Photography, Videography, and Visual Documentation related to engine testing, rig testing, component documentation, project activities, institutional events, and official functions.
  • Post Code 2026/GTRE/340 (Pay Level-6, Admin & Allied): Retired at Pay Level-6 from Government/PSU/Autonomous/University/R&D organizations. Must possess practical knowledge and adequate experience in HR domain activities such as training need identification, higher studies schemes, Continual Education Programmes (CEPs), orientation programmes, apprentice training, and related administrative tasks.

  • Maximum age: 63 years as on the last date of receipt of application (29 October 2026).
  • Unblemished service record is mandatory.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • A minimum gap of 15 days between date of retirement and appointment as Consultant.
  • Candidates with prior DRDO work experience are given preference.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Screening: Applications are screened by a locally-constituted Committee at GTRE for eligibility against the published Term of Reference (TOR) and GFR provisions.
  2. Screening Committee Assessment: A duly-constituted Screening Committee assesses the suitability of screened-in candidates and prepares a merit-wise shortlist.
  3. Final Panel: The merit-wise panel recommended by the Screening Committee remains valid for six (6) months from the date of its constitution.

No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in any stage of the selection process. There is no written examination or direct interview — selection is based entirely on screening of submitted documents and credentials.

  • A mandatory gap of at least 15 days is required between the date of retirement and appointment as Consultant.
  • Paid leave of absence is admissible at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service, without accumulation beyond a calendar year.
  • The Competent Authority reserves the right to cancel the advertisement or reject any or all applications at any stage without assigning any reason.
