• Specialist (Anaesthesia) — Qualification: Candidate must hold M.B.B.S. degree and be registered with the Indian Medical Council.
• Specialization: MD / DA / DNB in Anesthesiology is required. Two years of relevant experience is desirable.
• Age Limit: Candidates should not have completed more than 60 years of age as on 01/10/2026. For retired Railway Doctors engaging as Contract Medical Practitioners (CMPs), the number of terms of engagement is capped at seven terms subject to an age limit of 67 years.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• Selection will be done through a Walk-in Interview held on 23 October 2026 at the office of the Principal Chief Medical Officer, ICF Hospital, Chennai – 600038.
• Candidates must carry attested copies of all certificates and original documents for verification at the time of interview.
• The selected doctor will have to produce character and antecedents certificates from two gazetted officers of the Central or State Government, and undergo a medical examination before the contract is entered into.
• Selected candidate must undergo a brief orientation for two weeks.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates appearing for the walk-in interview.

Important Contract Terms

• The engagement is on a Full-Time Contract basis for a period of one year or less, or till a regularly IRHS Anesthetist is available, or till the scheme is available — whichever is earlier.
• Services are liable for termination before expiry by giving 15 days' notice by either side without assigning any reason.
• No private practice is allowed.
• Contract doctors are not entitled to Railway Quarters or similar residential facilities.
• The period of contract is not extendable on any grounds; however, Railway administration reserves the right to enter into a fresh contract for another term.
• The selected candidate will not have any claim or right for continuity in service or automatic extension of the contract term.
