Job Description & Responsibilities

The Laboratory In-charge will support the effective teaching and learning of Physics at the Institute. Key responsibilities include:

• Laboratory Preparation: Set up equipment, perform technical duties, assist in laboratory sessions, and prepare for physics lecture demonstrations across two semesters.
• Laboratory Upkeep: Assist instructors on procedures and equipment use, perform general cleaning and maintenance, distribute materials, and ensure the lab is secured and powered down daily.
• Safety Management: Stay current with safety regulations, conduct equipment safety checks, guide users on safety procedures, and dispose of unsafe equipment.
• Stock & Purchasing: Maintain stock control, conduct annual stock-takes, source materials, monitor expenditure, and assist with budget processes.
• Design & Development: Construct or modify apparatus, improve existing experiments, and design new experiments or equipment.
• General Duties: Attend meetings and assist with quizzes and tests for the physics curriculum.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

Terms of Engagement

The contract is initially for one year. Subject to satisfactory evaluation at the conclusion of the term, the contract may be extended on a yearly basis. Selected candidates, if interested, would be permitted to apply for admission to the Ph.D. program at the Institute in due course.
