Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) was established in 1980. The National Dairy Programme ‘Operation Flood’.It is a three - tiered organisation . Primary milk Co-operative milk producer’s Unions for ERCMPU Thiruvananthapuram region. From the different Units, ERMPU for Emakulam region and MRCMPU for malabar region and various units under region producer and distributer pasteurized vitamin- A Enriched milk and various milk base products.

MILMA has been instrumental in achieving the national goal of self sufficiency in milk production in the state. KCMMF has achieved the glorious distinction in its performance by close association and bond with National Dairy Development Board, Animal Husbandry Department and Dairy Development Department of the state and Kerala Livestock Department Board.

The power of the producer members is felt right from the grass root of the village and from the Co-operative society to the Board Government the state Federation through this system of financing and functioning. The village Cooperative units or societies and Regional level to form Regional Co- operative milk producer Unions. These unions later federate at the state level.
