Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Scientist-D (Medical)
- MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC.
- Desirable: MD/MS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC, OR MPH from a recognized university, OR PhD from a recognized university in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences.
Scientist-D (Non-Medical)
- Masters from a recognized University in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences, OR Pharm-D degree recognized by UGC/PCI.
- Desirable: PhD from a recognized university in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences.
Scientist-C (Medical)
- MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC.
- Desirable: MD/MS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC, OR MPH from a recognized university, OR PhD from a recognized university in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences.
Scientist-C (Medical) – Microbiology
- MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC.

Scientist-B (Medical)

Experience Consideration Rules
- PhD will be considered as 4 years' experience (irrespective of the duration taken to complete the degree), provided the period spent on obtaining the minimum essential educational qualification shall not count towards experience.
- MD/MS or equivalent will be considered as 3 years' experience (period spent on obtaining minimum essential educational qualification shall not count).
- MPH / M.Tech will not be considered as any experience.
- Experience in Research & Development related to Biomedical Sciences, relevant to the job requirements in Government/Public Sector/Private Institutions, will be admissible.

Selection Process & Screening Clause
The selection will be made through the following stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT) – MCQ Format: The CBT will assess understanding of research methods and will be of qualifying nature. The minimum qualifying requirement is the 75th percentile.
- Personal Discussion / Interview: Candidates qualifying the CBT (or shortlisted based on eligibility) may be called for personal discussion or interview as decided by ICMR.
- Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of the personal discussion / interview.
The selection may involve CBT, interview, or both, as determined by the ICMR-NIE selection committee. Applicants working in Government or Public Sector Undertakings must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) stating that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receiving the appointment order.
