Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

Applications are invited from Officers under Central/State Governments, UTs, PSUs, Universities, Research Institutes, or Institutes of National Importance.

• Educational Qualification: Master's Degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale from a recognized University/Institute.
• Experience (Any one of the following):
  • Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in parent Department/Organization.
  • At least 15 years' experience as Assistant Professor in AGP of 7000/- (Pay Level-11) or above, OR 8 years' service in AGP of 8000/- (Pay Level-12) or above including Associate Professor with 3 years' experience in educational administration.
  • Comparable experience in research establishment and other institutions of higher education.
  • 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post in GP of ₹7600/- (Pay Level-12) or above.
• Desirable: Qualification in the area of Management/Engineering/Law. Experience in computerized administration/legal/financial/establishment matters.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

The recruitment process for the post of Registrar involves the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on eligibility criteria (all qualifications and experience considered as on or before 20.11.2026).
2. Written Test: All shortlisted/eligible candidates must appear for a written test (Objective: 70 marks, Descriptive: 30 marks, Total: 100 marks, Duration: 2 hours). The syllabus covers NIT Act-2007, Academic Administration, Leave Rules, Disciplinary Procedures, Pension Rules, Purchasing Rules (GFR-2017, GeM), Store Management, Fundamental/Supplementary Rules, and RTI Act.
3. Interview: Only the top 10 candidates in order of merit from the written test will be called for a personal interview.
4. Document Verification: Original documents along with one set of self-attested copies must be produced at the time of interview.
5. NOC Requirement: Serving Govt./Semi Govt./PSUs/Universities must furnish a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.
