OSSSC Forester, Forest Guard & Excise Constable Recruitment 2026

The Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of Forester, Forest Guard, and Excise Constable posts. A total of 1518 vacancies are available under various departments. Candidates who have passed 10th or 12th can apply online through the official OSSSC website. The online application process starts on 07-01-2026 and the last date to apply is 07-02-2026.

Circle/Division/District-wise Breakup

Forester (Annexure-I): Angul (8), Baripada (1), Berhampur (15), Koraput (4), Rourkela (7), Sambalpur (12). Total: 47 posts.

Forest Guard (Annexure-II): Category-wise, division-wise vacancies for 896 posts are provided in the official notification.

Excise Constable (Annexure-III): Angul (21), Balangir (23), Balasore (38), Bargarh (7), Bhadrak (16) and others. Total: 575 posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Forester

• Essential: Must have passed +2 Science from a recognized University, Institution, or Board with knowledge in basic Computer skills. Must be able to read, write & speak Odia and must have passed Middle English School Examination with Odia as language subject, or Matriculation with Odia as medium in non-language subjects, or Odia as language subject in Class VII or above, or passed Odia test in ME School Standard.
• Age Limit: 18 to 32 years as on 01-01-2025.
• Physical Standards: Refer to official notification.

Eligibility for Forest Guard

• Essential: Must have passed High School Certificate Examination (10+) from a recognized Board or Institution. Must be able to read, write & speak Odia and must have passed Middle English School Examination with Odia as language subject, or Matriculation with Odia as medium in non-language subjects, or Odia as language subject in Class VII or above, or passed Odia test in ME School Standard.
• Age Limit: 18 to 32 years as on 01-01-2025.
• Physical Standards: Refer to official notification.

Eligibility for Excise Constable

• Essential: Must have passed +2 Examination or equivalent conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha or any other recognized Board or Council. Must be able to read, write & speak Odia and must have passed Middle English School Examination with Odia as language subject, or Matriculation with Odia as medium in non-language subjects, or Odia as language subject in Class VII or above, or passed Odia test in ME School Standard.
• Age Limit: 21 to 32 years as on 01-01-2025.
• Physical Standards: Must not have knock knee, bow legs, flat foot, varicose veins, squint in eyes, poor vision, colour blindness, or other deformities. No impediment in speech and hearing.

Other Eligibility

• General: Must be a citizen of India, of good character, and must not have more than one living spouse.
• Sportspersons: Must possess valid Sportsperson Identity Card issued by Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.
• PwDs: Must possess Permanent Disability Certificate / UDID card with not less than 40% disability. Benchmark PwDs get compensatory time and may avail scribe. Note: For Forester/Forest Guard, only Leprosy Cured Persons and Acid Attack Victims are eligible.
• Ex-Servicemen: Must possess Identity Card / Discharge Certificate.

Salary / Stipend

Forester: ₹ 25500–81100 (Pay Matrix Level-7, Cell-1).

Forest Guard: ₹ 19900–63200 (Pay Matrix Level-4, Cell-01).

Excise Constable: ₹ 19900–63200 (Pay Matrix Level-4, Cell-01).

Important Dates

Selection Process

Stage-I: Written Test (100 marks, MCQ type, OMR/CBRE mode)

• Pattern: Mathematics (20 Qs), General Studies (25 Qs), English (20 Qs), Odia (15 Qs), Computer (20 Qs). Duration: 1.5 hours.
• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
• Qualifying Marks: 30% for ST, SC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, Sportspersons; 35% for others.

Application Fee

₹ 500/- for all candidates except SC, ST, and PwDs (who are exempted). Payment must be made online via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI.
