Eligibility Criteria and Educational Qualification

The post of Assistant Welfare Officer at NITI Aayog is to be filled on a Deputation basis (including short-term contract). Only candidates who meet the following broad eligibility conditions as laid down in the detailed vacancy circular on the NITI Aayog website may apply:

  • The post is open to serving officers of the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies, and Statutory Organizations who are eligible for appointment to a Group-B post at Level-6 or equivalent.
  • Candidates must currently hold a post in an equivalent pay level or at least one level below Level-6 in the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, with adequate experience in administration, personnel management, or welfare-related functions.
  • The applicant must be under the age of 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications (i.e., 21 November 2026), excluding the age relaxation available for deputation under Central Government rules.
  • Candidates must possess an Integrity Certificate, Vigilance Clearance, and a statement confirming that no major or minor penalty has been imposed during the preceding 5 years.
  • Officers deputed must produce a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Undertaking from their Cadre Controlling Authority permitting their deputation.

Selection Process and Screening Clause

  • The applications received within the stipulated time will be scrutinized by the Screening Committee of NITI Aayog against the prescribed eligibility criteria, experience, and service profile of the candidates.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be called for a personal interaction / interview as determined by the competent authority.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of merit and suitability, subject to verification of all original documents and service records.
