Typing proficiency is mandatory for Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/JSA and Postal Assistant (PA)/Sorting Assistant posts:

- English typing: 35 words per minute (WPM)
- Hindi typing: 30 WPM
- Mode: Computer-based typing

For Data Entry Operator (DEO):
- Skill Test requires 8,000 key depressions per hour (approx. 27 WPM with accuracy)

Exemptions:
- PwBD candidates may be exempted or given compensatory time as per rules
- Candidates opting for Hindi must have studied Hindi in 10th or 12th standard

The Typing/Skill Test is qualifying; failure disqualifies the candidate for the relevant post but may allow consideration for other non-typing posts if opted.
