6.Qualifications: Essential: (i) Masters (1st class) in any related to Earth Science/ Geology/ Marine Science/Marine Biology/Oceanography/Environmental Science from a recognized university. (ii) Applicant must be qualified in any one of the following tests: CSIR/UGC/ICMR including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) OR GATE. National Level examination DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc., IISER etc.
7. Desirable: (i)Basic knowledge in Benthic Foraminiferal taxonomy; Field surveys in marginal marine habitats/coastal regions along India’s coastline; Publication in area of project title; Experience in DNA isolation, amplification and sequencing.
8. Monthly stipend: Rs.31000/- + HRA

Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). It was established in 1946 as Maharashtra Association for the Cultivation of Science (MACS). Later, as the research activities started expanding, the MACS Research Institute was given a separate identity. The institute was renamed as ARI in 1992 to honour its founder Director, late Professor S. P. Agharkar. The current research and development activities of ARI are spread over six different themes, namely Biodiversity & Paleobiology, Bioenergy, Bioprospecting, Developmental Biology, Genetics & Plant Breeding, and Nanobioscience.
It is affiliated with the S.P. Pune University for postgraduate research (M.Sc. and Ph.D.).
