Educational Qualification: Any Graduate
Applications are invited from the intending eligible candidates who are citizens of India as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India for filling up of the vacancy as indicated below in the cadre of Stenographer Grade-I under the Establishment of Assam Public Service Commission.
1. Position: Stenographer Grade-I (English)
2. No of Post: 01
3. Pay scale: Rs. 30000/- to Rs. 110000/-
4. Grade Pay: Rs. 13300/-
5. Qualification: Passed degree examination or equivalent examination from a recognized University. (Upload valid self-attested supporting documents.)
6. Other Qualification:
a) Passed the speed test of 120 words per minute in English Stenography conducted by the Board/Commission.
b) One should complete 3 years of continuous service in either or in both the cadre of Stenographer Grade – II and Stenographer Grade – III taken together under State Govt./Commission.
c) Must have computer knowledge in Windows and MS-Office

Selection Procedure
The scheme of selection for Stenographer Grade-I will comprise of two parts: (a) Stenography speed test (b) Composition in English carrying 50 Marks with one hour duration

3. Applicants are required to apply online through APSC’s recruitment website. No other means/ mode of application will be accepted and the Application will be summarily rejected.
4. Applicants who have not registered yet, in Online Recruitment Portal of APSC are first required to go to the APSC’s recruitment website https://online.apscrecruitment.in and register themselves by clicking on ‘Register Here’ link and complete the user registration process by providing basic details.
5. The applicants are advised to read the eligibility criteria and other relevant details carefully before applying for the advertisement. Mandatory fields in the online form are marked with * (asterisk) sign.
6. Candidates must submit the details of documents like Certificate No., Issue date, Issuing authority and upload the documents/certificates (whenever asked for) in support of the claims made by them in the Application Form like, Date of Birth, Experience, Qualification(s) etc. or any other information, in pdf file in such a way that the file size does not exceed 200 KB and is legible when a printout taken
7. For that purpose, the applicant may scan the documents/certificates in 200 dpi grey scale.

About Assam Public Service Commission
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is a constitutional body that plays a vital role in the recruitment process for government jobs in the state of Assam. For decades, it has been the primary agency responsible for conducting examinations and making appointments for various posts under the Government of Assam, fulfilling a key mandate for fair and merit-based public sector careers. Organizational Evolution
The composition of the Commission has undergone significant evolution since its inception, reflecting its growing role in public administration and employment. In 1937-1951, the Commission consisted of one Chairman and two Members. This structure was adjusted to one Chairman and two or three Members during the period from 1951 to 1986. The need for a larger framework led to an increase to one Chairman and six Members from 1986 to 1991, followed by a further expansion to one Chairman and ten Members in 1991. By an amendment in 2005, the strength of the Commission was formally fixed at seven, comprising one Chairman and six Members.
