Atomic Minerals Directorate For Exploration & Research (AMDER) was established on 15th April 1948,is one of the oldest unit of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), by Government of India.

The Atomic Minerals Directorate For Exploration & Research (AMDER) was established for the Development and Control of Atomic Energy with the objective to promote research in their own laboratories and to subsidize such research in existing institution and university they also take necessary to protect the interest of the country in connection with atomic energy by exercise of the power conferred for the Government of India.

The Atomic Minerals Directorate For Exploration & Research (AMDER) also carried out Research & Development on Designing and Fabrication of Radiometric Instrument / Development of new Analytical Techniques for Multi Elemental Determination at trace and Ultratrace Levels / Detro Mineralogical Characterization and mineral Beneficiation of Radioactive areas etc.
