Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Essential Qualification for Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Post Graduation (Master's Degree) in Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on any of the following disciplines:
- Life Sciences: Microbiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Human Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Zoology, Environmental Science, Botany, Veterinary Sciences, Pharmacy, etc.
- Chemical Sciences: Biochemistry, Chemistry including Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry – Phytochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Natural Product Chemistry, etc.
- Physical Sciences: Including Biophysics.
- Social Sciences: Psychology (for mental diseases) and Sociology (for demographic survey), etc.
- Biostatistics.
- Valid NET Certificate: Candidates from Non-Ayush (Non-Medical) background must have qualified at least one of the following National Eligibility Tests with valid eligibility period:
- Joint CSIR-UGC Test for JRF and LS (NET)
- DBT-JRF in Biotechnology
- Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET)
- ICAR's AICE-SRF (PGS)
- ICMR-JRF
- Candidates must be willing to undertake research on AYUSH-related projects while pursuing Ph.D. at a recognised University/Institution of their choice.

Selection Process & Screening Clause
- Online Application Screening: Applications received before the last date (08-12-2026) will be scrutinised for eligibility.
- Shortlisting: Eligible and suitable candidates will be shortlisted based on academic merit, NET qualification, and research proposal relevance.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed and invited for interview by the respective Councils (CCRAS for Ayurveda; CCRYN for Yoga & Naturopathy).
- Final Selection: Based on interview performance and document verification.
No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview.
Tenure of Fellowship
This is a temporary fellowship for pursuing Ph.D. and not a permanent government job:
- Phase 1 (JRF): 2 years at Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA
- Phase 2 (SRF – Extendable): Additional 2–3 years at Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA
- Maximum Total Tenure: 5 years
