Educational Qualification: Post-graduate degree in Fisheries Science (or) Marine biology (or) Environmental Science/ (or) equivalent. (Candidates having post-graduate degrees in Basic Sciences (i.e., 3 years Bachelor’s degree and 2 years Post-graduate degree should have NET qualification/ NET qualification not mandatory for 4 year’s bachelor degree). Desirable Qualification: Experience in Marine research, Fishing technology, Experience with Research Methods; Analysing ecological data using relevant software & writing research papers. Candidate must be willing to travel to different locations along the Kerala coast for collection of fish catch data and go onboard regularly in the commercial/departmental fishing vessels. Occasional visits outside Kerala are also required as part of the project work.

Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected based on written test/personal interview/medical test/walkin interview. Once a candidate is selected they will be placed as Junior Research Fellow/ Senior Research Fellow in CIFT.

The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) set up in 1957 is the only national center in the country where research in all disciplines relating to fishing and fish processing is undertaken. The institute started functioning at Cochin in 1957. Research centers function at Veraval (Gujarat), Visakhapatnam (AP) and Mumbai (Maharashtra).
The institute functions with the following mandate:
Basic and strategic research in fishing and processing.
Design and develop energy efficient fishing systems for responsible fishing and sustainable management
Development of implements and machinery for fishing and fish processing.
