The Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS), comes under Ministry of Water Resources (MWR),It was established in year 1954, with the aim to deals with Field and Laboratory Investigations, basic and applied researches and programs in Geomechanics, Concrete Technology, Construction Material and Associated Environmental issues, and on the development of Irrigation and Power in Country.

The Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS), conducting activities in following disciplines :
Concrete Chemistry, Electronics and Information Technology (CC) / Rock Mechanics including Instrumentation, Engineering Geophysics and Numerical Modelling (RM) / Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering including Soil / Dynamics, Geotextiles, Soil, Chemistry and Rockfill Technology (Soil) / Concrete Technology, Drilling Technology for Subsurface Characterization and Construction Materials (Concrete).
