Educational Qualification:
(a) Holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre/ department.
(b) The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.
Pay Scale:
INR
5200-20200/- Per Month
Age Limit: Maximum 56 Years.

The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, is the apex body responsible for promoting and regulating shipping and maritime activities in India. Established in 1949, the DGS plays a vital role in implementing shipping policy, ensuring maritime safety, maintaining standards for Indian seafarers, and overseeing training and certification.
It also governs the registration of ships, surveys, and inspections, along with compliance with international maritime conventions. The DGS works in close coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other global bodies to uphold India’s commitment to safe, secure, and environmentally sustainable maritime transport.
