Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Post: Teaching Assistant in Economics
• Master's Degree: Candidates must hold a Master's Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) in Economics / Applied Economics from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• NET / SLET / GSET / Ph.D. Requirement:
• Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC such as SLET / GSET.
• Alternatively, candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. / Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments, are exempted from NET/SLET/GSET.
• Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 are governed by existing ordinances under specific conditions.
• Foreign University Ph.D. Alternative: A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university / institution ranked among the top 500 in World University Rankings (at any time) as per any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), (ii) Times Higher Education (THE), or (iii) Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

The selection process comprises the following stages:

1. Walk-in Registration & Document Verification: Candidates must report in person and submit original documents for verification at the Department Office.
2. MCQ Screening Test (If Applicable): If the number of eligible candidates is found to be more than the vacancies, the Department may conduct a Multiple Choice Question screening test based on the NET / GSET syllabus.
3. Teaching Demonstration (If Applicable): A teaching demonstration may be conducted at the Department's discretion.
4. Interview: The final selection will be based on the interview performance conducted by the Department.

No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending the walk-in interview.

Important Restrictions:

• Working hours are 10:30 AM to 6:10 PM, Monday to Saturday, with a weekly workload of 40 hours (18 hours direct teaching).
• Selected candidates are entitled to 10 days of casual leave at one day per month.
• Teaching assistants are not eligible for the Provident Fund Scheme or any other welfare scheme applicable to regular employees.
• Candidates are prohibited from taking part in politics, strikes, or accepting any private tuition or business assignments.
• Selected candidates must not leave the job mid-term and must complete all exam-related responsibilities.
