Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore invites applications for the following positions in the Office of Career Counselling and Placement at the Institute: Advertisement No. R(HR)Temp-04(OCCAP)/2022 1. Position: Placement Officer 2. No. of Vacancies: 01 3. Mandatory Qualification: Two years MBA with specialization preferably in HR. At least five years prior experience in placement related activities in reputed Engineering, Management and/or Science college/Institute/University 4. Annual Remuneration: Rs.7,00,000/- to Rs.12,00,000/- 1. Position: Asst. Placement Officer 2. No. of Vacancies: 01 3. Mandatory Qualification: Master’s Degree in any discipline with at least two years prior experience in placement related activities in reputed Engineering, Management and/ or Science college/ Institute/ University 4. Annual Remuneration: Rs.5,00,000/- to Rs.8,00,000/- 5. Desirable Qualifications : a) The individual should be energetic, proactive, and a good communicator b) Excellent written and oral communication skills in English c) Ability to effectively use modern computing, document preparation, data analysis, and networking applications and tools d) Strong analytical abilities, in order to analyse data as dealt with in science administration, provide visualization of the data, and draw inferences. e) Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. f) Experience in organising national and international scientific meetings and in advising students at graduate and undergraduate level, will be distinct advantages. g) These individuals are expected to work in consultation with a committee of professors and existing staff in the Office of Career Counselling and Placement at IISc.

Selection Procedure
1. The shortlisted candidates will be informed through e-mail about date & time of written Examination/interview or both. IISc reserves the right to choose any/both the modes. Candidates are also advised to provide correct information in their online application.
2. The electronic mode of interview (Zoom Call/ Microsoft Team) will be intimated to the candidates in advance. However, the candidates are advised to be prepared to give interview in all the medium mentioned here, and to appear in person, if so required.
3. Candidates may please ensure that they are fulfilling all the requisite criteria prior to registering, failing which, their candidature is liable to be rejected/cancelled.
4. In case the interview is held in-person, no TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview. However, interview may be held through online method such as Google Meet/Zoom Call/ Microsoft Team/ Skype. Candidates will be informed through email/about mode and details of interview.

In the 1890s, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, a successful industrialist, decided to set up a world class university in India using his personal wealth. He strongly believed in the role of scientific research and higher education in social and economic transformation.
Tata’s dream of establishing what eventually came to be known as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) became a reality with the support of the Mysore State, whose rulers also shared his commitment towards education and research. The Regent Queen Maharani Kempananjammani Vani Vilasa Sannidhana – her son Krishnaraja Wadiyar was a minor then – provided 371 acres and 16 guntas of land in Bangalore, funds for capital expenditure, and an annual contribution for Tata’s ambitious project. The remaining money to set up IISc came from the colonial government of India.
After overcoming several hurdles, including those resulting from Tata’s untimely death in the summer of 1904, IISc finally came into existence on 27 May 1909 in Bangalore following a vesting order and resolution passed by the government of India to establish the Institute. Its first Director was the English chemist Morris Travers. Twenty-four students joined when the Institute opened its doors to students in 1911.
