Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai was established in the state of Chhattisgarh by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development in the year 2016.

IIT Bhilai is presently housed in its transit campus at Government Engineering College (GEC) Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

IIT Bhilai offers Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Science (MSc), and Doctoral programs (Ph.D.) in various departments. The Institute made its modest start with the introduction of the BTech program in August 2016. The Institute is currently offering BTech and MTech programs in the departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), Mechatronics and Electric Vehicle Technology (EVT, MTech); and Ph.D. program in the departments of Chemistry (CHM), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mathematics (MTH), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Physics (PHY) and Liberal Arts (LA).

IIT Bhilai has established a 3-D Printing Lab that constitutes an integral part of the 3-D Modeling and Design course, a fabrication lab, an electrical lab, a computer lab, and a library in a short duration.
