The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It is the premier training institution for Indian Army officers. Established in 1932, the IMA trains officers for the Indian Army, with the goal of producing leaders who are capable of leading from the front in any situation.
The IMA offers a rigorous training program that covers military, physical, and academic training, with a focus on developing character, leadership, and physical fitness. The training period is 1 year for the Technical Graduate Course and 1.5 years for the Short Service Commission. Cadets also have the option to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University during their training.
The IMA is spread over 1,400 acres and has state-of-the-art facilities including classrooms, sports fields, a gymnasium, an obstacle course, and firing ranges. The academy also has a museum, which showcases the history and traditions of the Indian Army.
