Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways having its Corporate Office at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai invites applications for the following posts on fixed term contract basis for Design and Inspection Cell of KRCL.
1. Post Name: Assistant Project Engineer (Fabrication)
2. No of Post: 04
3. Fixed Remuneration: Rs. 73,491/- per month.
4. Minimum Qualification & eligibility: Graduate in Civil/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with not less than 55% marks from recognized (AICTE) University. The Candidate shall possess NDT Level II – ASNT Certification
5. Experience: Minimum 8 years’ experience of working in a PSU organization or in a reputed Public / Pvt Ltd. Company. This shall be inclusive of:
(i) 4 years are in QA / QC activities for inspection of fabrication of bridges in Railway, Metro and Road Projects or a minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanized welding of heavy structural steel -preferably Railway/ Road Bridges.
(ii) Ability to understand and prepare WPS, fabrication methodologies and related procedures involved in welding/ fabrication of heavy structural steel.
(iii) Knowledge of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Machine (PAUT) working and interpretation of its output reports.
6. The place of posting will be at New Delhi, Raipur, Surat, Ambala, Nagpur and any other hub of Fabrication.
7. The essential duties in respect of works are as under:
a. Serve as Technical representative for all matters related to Contract, Contract Management, Project Management, and overview and quality assurance of works.
b. Draw up technical circulars, norms, guidelines and Notes.
c.. Preparation of plans, estimates, tenders, design and drawings, technical specifications, execution and records of other works, certifying bills as per KRCL's measurement policy.
d. Assist in floating, negotiations, finalization of Tenders, claims and allied works.
e. Supervise & monitor the works for conformance with the provisions of Contract Documents and the Procedures and Manuals.
f. Preparation of Reports in connection with the works assigned.
g. He shall make available Inspection Officials in response to the Inspection Calls raised for inspection/witnessing of tests on Raw Material, Jigs & fixtures, calibration, welding process, postweld activities, trial assemblies of girders, etc.
h. Maintenance of Site office, control & upkeep of all documentations, Correspondence, records, Reports & Returns, etc regarding works and other logistic services. Drafting of Yearly, Monthly, Weekly and Daily reports.
i. In charge of Site office, Correspondence, Documents, Reports & Returns etc. Review of Yearly, Monthly, Weekly and Daily reports.
j. To ensure discipline and look after matters pertaining to staff under his control and ensure compliance of Labour Laws by Contractors

Selection Procedure
1. After preliminary screening of the applications submitted by the candidates in person, the eligible candidate(s) will only be interviewed.
2. The candidates shall arrive at the time and venue and get registered with the nominated KRCL official for the walk-in interview as indicated.
3. Group Discussion (GD) or any other elimination round, can be introduced depending on the number of candidates and those candidates who get through in the elimination round will be called for interview
4. The candidate will be interviewed by a nominated Committee and the selection will be finalized on merit based on the performance in the interview, qualification and post qualification experience gained by the Candidate.
5. The decision of the Nominated Committee of KRCL shall be final and binding.

The Konkan Railway was the missing link between India’s commercial capital, Mumbai, and Mangalore. The 741-kilometre line connects Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka States — a region of criss-crossing rivers, plunging valleys and mountains that soar into the clouds.
The Konkan is a coastal strip of land bounded by the Sahyadri hills on the east, and Arabian Sea on the west. It is a land where mythology breathes side by side with economic growth,a land with rich mineral resources, dense forest cover and a landscape fringed with paddy, coconut and mango trees. The formidable terrain to be conquered and the short construction period meant that the project could only be completed with the help of several technological innovations. Apart from setting a trend for other infrastructure projects in the country, the Konkan Railway provides concrete proof of the skills of Indian engineers, their discipline, team spirit and courage. But it is also a tribute to the unconquerable human spirit. Beyond the technical jargon, it was a leap of faith that made the long cherished dream of the people of the region possible.
The Konkan Railway has also in a way changed the lives of the Engineers and otherpeople associated with the project. For them it was the glory of overcoming all odds, and the satisfaction and pride that they have built something for posterity.
The completion of the Konkan Railway was a “tryst with destiny” for many people in the Konkan region, redeemed in the 50th year of the nation’s Independence. It is hence entirely fitting that the first train on the completed track was flagged off on January 26, 1998, Republic Day.
