Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Patiala was established in 1992 under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana with full financial assistance from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The KVK campus is located at about 90 km distance from the main PAU, Ludhiana campus on Ludhiana-Malerkotla-Patiala state highway at about 9 km from Patiala city. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an innovative science-based institution that imparts training viz.: Practising Farmers/Farm women (short term-1-2 days), Vocational Trainings for Rural Youth/Farm Women (5-10 days), and long term (1 week to 12 weeks) in the disciplines of Crop Production, Plant Protection, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science and Home Science for farmers, farm women and unemployed rural youths. It also conducts On Farm Research for technology refinement and Front Line Demonstrations to demonstrate the production potential of various agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as to the extension workers.
