Microwave Tube Research & Development Centre (MTRDC), a unit of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, located in Bangalore, has announced a walk-in interview for the posts of Junior Research Fellow and Research Associate. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in Material Science or Metallurgy to engage in research and development in the field of vacuum electronic devices.

Eligibility for Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Essential Qualification:
  • Graduate Degree in Professional Course (B.Tech) in Material Science/Metallurgy in first division with GATE/NET.
  • OR Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course (M.E./M.Tech) in Material Science/Metallurgy in first division both at graduate and Post Graduate level.
  • OR Post graduate Degree in basic science (M.Sc.) in Material Science/Metallurgy in first division with NET/GATE qualification.
• Experience: Not specified, freshers with qualifying degrees may apply.

Eligibility for Research Associate (RA)

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Material Science/Metallurgy OR M.Tech in Material Science/Metallurgy with at least 3 years of research, teaching, or design and development experience.
• Experience: Must have at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Salary/Stipend

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Rs. 37,000/- per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules.
• Research Associate (RA): Rs. 67,000/- per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules.

Important Dates

• Walk-in for JRF: 08 January 2026 (Thursday) – Candidates must report at 10:00 hrs.
• Walk-in for RA: 09 January 2026 (Friday) – Candidates must report at 10:00 hrs.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on a Walk-in Interview. The test/interview will be conducted on the same day. The selection panel will be valid for one year from the date of interview. No TA/DA will be paid.

How to Apply

Eligible and interested Indian nationals can attend the walk-in interview at the specified venue on the mentioned dates. Candidates are required to:

• Bring a complete Bio-Data with a recent passport size photo affixed on the top right corner of the first page.
• Bring original certificates (for verification) and one set of copies of all Degree/Academic qualification certificates/Mark Lists/Experience Certificate, etc.
• Candidates working in Govt./Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies must produce an NOC issued by the present employer.

Age Limit

• JRF: Not exceeding 28 Years.
• RA: Not exceeding 35 Years.
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/PH and 3 years for OBC candidates. SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce the Original Caste Certificate issued by the competent authority. PH candidates must produce a medical certificate from a Govt. Hospital/Medical Board.
