🎯 Selection Process

The NABARD selection process is divided into three distinct phases to ensure a high-caliber officer cadre:10

  1. Phase 1 (Preliminary): An online objective screening test of 200 marks.11 It includes Qualifying sections (Reasoning, English, Quant, Computer, Decision Making) and Merit sections (GA, ESI, ARD) which determine the shortlisting for the next stage.12+1
  2. Phase 2 (Mains): Consists of two papers.13 Paper I is Descriptive English (Online), and Paper II is an Objective + Descriptive test on Economic & Social Issues (ESI) and Agriculture & Rural Development (ARD).14+1
  3. Psychometric Test & Interview: A mandatory psychometric assessment followed by a 50-mark (Grade A) or 75-mark (Grade B) personal interview to evaluate suitability for rural development leadership.

How to Crack NABARD Exams

  • Prioritize the "Merit Sections": In Prelims, focus heavily on Agriculture & Rural Development (ARD) and Economic & Social Issues (ESI).15 Your performance in these two sections alone determines if you qualify for the Mains, as others are only qualifying.
  • Master Descriptive Writing: For Phase 2, practice writing essays and letters using a keyboard.16 The Descriptive English paper is a high-scoring area that significantly boosts your final merit rank.
  • Understand NABARD's Role: During the interview, display a deep understanding of current rural schemes like PM-KUSUM, e-NAM, and the status of Regional Rural Banks. Being aware of the latest NABARD Annual Report data is a massive pro-tip.
