CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography, a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research Institute (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of the following project staff, purely on a temporary contractual basis to carry out research work on the R&D project and to be engaged in NIO Head Quarters, Goa.

1. Position: Project Assistant

2. No. of. Posts: 01

3. Project Vacancy Details: Studies during and after construction of Mumbai Coastal project (South) from Princess Street Flyover to Worli End of Bandra Worli Sea Link- I Vacancy Code GAP3293/2222-22 Tenure: 12 Months

4. Monthly Emoluments: Rs.20000/- Plus HRA as per rules

5. Essential Qualifications & Experience required: 

a) Essential Qualification: Three years diploma in Civil Engineering or BSc. Physics

b) Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Experience in field work on boats and coastal area To assist the Project Leader in data collection on beaches and nearshore waters along the Indian coast. Analysis of measured data, plotting and report preparation. To assist in preparation and deployment of coastal moorings. To assist the Project Leader in project activities.

3. Project Vacancy Details: 3- Dimensional velocity structure and Seismogenic properties of the Andaman- Nicoabar subduction zone using local earthquakes and seismic noise from a passive ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) experiment. Vacancy Code GAP3433/2223-22 Tenure: 12 Months

4. Monthly Emoluments: Rs.25000/- Plus HRA as per rules

5. Essential Qualifications & Experience required: 

a) Essential Qualification: M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.) / M. Tech. in Geophysics / Marine Geophysics / Exploration Geophysics / Applied Geophysics

b) Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Knowledge of linux operating system, shell scripting and seismological data processing software like SEISAN. The selected candidate needs to assist the Project Leader in acquisition, processing, modelling and interpretation of Ocean Bottom Seismological data.

5. Essential Qualifications & Experience required: 

a) Essential Qualification: M.Sc Microbiology/Marine Science (Specialization in Marine Biology) with NET/GATE qualification

b) Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Experience of handling analytical equipments and knowledge of commonly used computer applications. Assisting scientists in samples collection, sample analysis and processing of data.

Selection Procedure

1. If number of applications are more, then selection committee will fix a criteria to shortlist the applicants. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. Selection will be done on the basis of online interview through either Skype/Google Meet/Zoom or any other suitable software, as decided by the competent authority.
