National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) was established in the year 2007. It is located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. NISER operates under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

NISER is dedicated to graduate education and research only. It offers a five-year integrated M.Sc. as well as Ph.D. degrees in pure and applied sciences.

NISER has five schools. They are: School of Biological Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
