Educational Qualification: Director (Plant Health Management): A First or High Second class (above 57%) Masters Degree in Entomology / Plant Pathology or in Agriculture / Botany / Zoology with specialization in Entomology or Plant Pathology or Weed Science or Nematology or Vertebrate Pest Management. Preference for candidates with exposure to Agricultural Entomology / Plant pathology
Transfer on deputation: Minimum II class Master‟s Degree from recognized university or equivalent.
Assistant Scientific Officer: Minimum High Second Class (above 57%) Master‟s Degree in Agriculture / Horticulture with specialization in Entomology
Assistant Scientific Officer (Plant Pathology): Minimum Second Class Master‟s Degree in a. Agriculture/Horticulture with specialization in Plant Pathology OR
b. Botany with specialization in Plant Pathology. OR c. Plant Pathology
Experience: Director (Plant Health Management): Minimum work experience of 17 years with at least 6 years of experience in Integrated Pest Management including teaching/training etc.
Assistant Scientific Officer: One year experience in research / extension / teaching / training in any areas of Agricultural / Horticultural Entomology (OR) Ph.D candidates (in any of the above areas) without experience will also be considered.
Assistant Scientific Officer (Plant Pathology): Two years for M.Sc. candidates (M.Sc in above mentioned subjects) in Plant Quarantine/IPM. OR Total work experience of 1 year in relevant field for M.Sc. Candidates (M.Sc in above mentioned subjects) who have Post Graduate Diploma in Plant Health Management/ Post Graduate Diploma in Plant Protection. OR Ph.D. candidates in above mentioned subjects without experience will also be considered
Assistant Scientific Officer (Pesticide Management Division ): Work experience of two years in analysis of pesticide residues and / or pesticide formulation

In order to bestow greater functional flexibility, and broader reach in delivery against the emerging challenges in the field of Plant Health Management, a very crucial area for enhancing our country's agricultural production, the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India had taken a decision for transforming this Institute into an autonomous body. Consequently, the Institute has been registered as an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India on 24th October 2008 under the name, National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM).
NIPHM objectives are Human Resource development in Plant Protection Technology, plant quarantine and biosecurity with special emphasis on crop-oriented Integrated Pest Management approaches and protecting the plant biosecurity borders, both in public and private sectors; Human Resource development in analysis of Pesticide Formulations and Pesticide Residues for monitoring the quality status of pesticides in States/U.Ts.
