Educational Qualification: Candidates Should have 1st Class BE /B.Tech or 1st Class M.Tech / ME in Mining/Civil Engineering(or) 1st Class Post Graduate in Earth Sciences. Desirable Ph.D in Mining/Civil/Earth Sciences related to rock mechanics/geotechnical engineering.
20 years or more experience in research/teaching/industry, with outstanding contribution in rock mechanics/geotechnical/ mining/civil engineering projects.
Pay Scale:
INR
Pay Level-14 Per Month
Age Limit: Maximum 56 Years.
Selection Procedure: Selection of the Director will be done by the Search-cum-Selection Committee which may also consider contact/ nominated candidates for the post. Candidates called for the interview will be reimbursed return fare by the shortest route limited to 2nd AC train fare.

Duly filled in application form with copies of proof of age, qualification, experience etc, along with a fee of Rs. 200/- by DD drawn in favor of NIRM (payable at State Bank of India, Kumaraswamy Layout Branch, Bengaluru) may be forwarded to the Controller of Administration, NIRM, at the Institute’s Head office address. NIRM is exclusively devoted to basic and applied research in rock mechanics. Over the period of last 38 years, the institute has the privilege to provide its expertise to various central, state government agencies and public sector undertakings in the field of mining, hydroelectric projects, nuclear power projects, oil and gas sector and various infrastructure project authorities including rail, road, airports, hospital etc. The Institute has been developed as a Centre of Excellence for Rock Engineering, with the following broad areas of activities:
Design of mine workings for improved safety and productivity.
Design of rock excavations, support systems for safety and stability.
Optimal site characterisation for strategic constructions.
Instrumentation and monitoring for ensuring stability of excavations.
In-situ and laboratory-based tests as per ISRM standards.
Rock deformability Characteristics.
Information dissemination by training program and short-term courses.
The high-quality services provided by NIRM have found wide acceptance in the industry.
