Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

All candidates must have obtained the prescribed qualification in regular mode on or after 01 January 2022, from a recognized University, Institution, or State Board in India. Minimum of 60% marks is required for all disciplines.

• Library and Information Science Graduate Apprentice: B.Lib.Sc with 60% marks, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized University; OR Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with 60% marks completed on or after 01 January 2022 along with M.Lib.Sc.
• Hotel Management Graduate Apprentice: Degree in Hotel Management with 60% marks, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized University.
• Nursing Graduate Apprentice: B.Sc. Nursing with 60% marks, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized University.
• General Administration Graduate Apprentice: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with 60% marks, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized University.
• Commercial Practice Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Commercial Practice, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.
• Computer Science Engineering Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Computer Science Engineering, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.
• Electronics Engineering Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Electronics Engineering, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.
• Electrical Engineering Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.
• Mechanical Engineering Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.
• Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice: Diploma in Civil Engineering, completed on or after 01 January 2022 from a recognized Board.

Key Disqualifications: Candidates who have already created an apprenticeship contract with any Government or private organization/institution under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) are not eligible.

Age Limit (as on 21 October 2026)

Stipend Structure

• Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 15,000 per month
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: Rs. 12,500 per month

The monthly stipend comprises two components — the Government Share (equivalent to 50% of the applicable minimum stipend prescribed under the Apprenticeship Rules, amended effective 11 September 2025), disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and the Institute Share, borne and paid by NIT Calicut.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Application Scrutiny: Applications received online will be scrutinized against the eligibility criteria stated in the notification.
2. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on the information furnished in the online application form. Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available positions, a screening written test and/or interview may be conducted, as decided by NIT Calicut.
3. Document Verification / Written Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for document verification and/or written test and/or interview — the mode and schedule will be communicated via email.
4. Contract Execution: Selected candidates must execute a Contract of Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. The apprenticeship is confirmed only after the contract is created in the NATS portal and approved by NATS.

No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending document verification, written test, or interview.

Important: Shortlisting is based solely on the information furnished in the application. Any discrepancy found at any stage — including document verification — will result in immediate disqualification.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

• Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate / Birth Certificate as Proof of Date of Birth
• All Degree/Diploma Certificates and Consolidated Mark Sheets corresponding to the qualification claimed
• Proof that the qualification was completed on or after 01 January 2022
• Experience Certificates on Official Letterhead (if applicable)
• Valid Category / Caste Certificate in Central Government prescribed format (if applicable)
• Two recent passport-size photographs & Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)

Instructions: All correspondence with candidates will be done through email only. Shortlisted candidates must produce all relevant original documents at the time of document verification. Selected candidates must execute a Contract of Apprenticeship and ensure NATS approval within the stipulated timeframe.
