Applications are invited from the interested and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work in a R&D project titled “Synthesis of azulene-porphyrin conjugates and their exploration as anti-Kasha-active fluorophores” sponsored by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB)-DST, Govt. of India under the Core Research Grant (CRG) scheme.
i. The selected candidate will be appointed initially for a period of one year and the tenure can be extended till the completion of the project based on the performance review.
1. Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
2. Number of positions: One (01)
3. Area of Specialization: Synthetic Organic/Inorganic Chemistry
4. Maximum Duration: 36 Months
5. Consolidated Salary: Rs. 31,000/- per month + HRA as per institute rules
6. Essential Qualification:
Masters’ degree in Chemistry with at least 6.5/10 CGPA or 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or University as a full-time program. The candidate should also have CSIR-UGC NET qualification or a valid GATE score.
7. Desirable: Candidates with working experience in organic/inorganic synthesis are preferred

2. The selection will be based on qualification, experience and test/interview performance. NITK Surathkal reserves the right to reject any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.

(4) Scanned copies of educational certificates and mark sheets (Class X onwards)
(5) Scanned copies of GATE/NET certificate
(6) Proof for research experience, special achievements and publications (if any)

b. The soft and hard copies of all the above documents must reach the Principal Investigator (Dr. Vijayendra S. Shetti) on or before January 21, 2022.
c. The soft copies of all the above documents should be emailed as one file (.pdf format) with a subject line “JRF application for SERB project”.
d. The email and postal addresses for the correspondence are given below.
e. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview. The appointment will be on a purely temporary basis and co-terminus with the project.
f. Candidates who are already employed should produce relieving certificate from their employers, if selected.

National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.
