RWF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), a unit of the Indian Railways under the Ministry of Railways, has released the official notification for the engagement of Act Apprentices for the year 2025-26. A total of 192 vacancies have been announced across various designated trades including Fitter, Machinist, Electrician, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have completed their 10th standard with ITI to undergo apprenticeship training at a premier railway production unit in Bengaluru.

Recruitment Type: This is Direct Recruitment based on a Merit List prepared from 10th class marks. There is no written examination.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination (Matriculation) or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
• Technical Qualification: Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the designated trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
• Important Notes:
  • Candidates awaiting ITI/NTC results are NOT eligible.
  • Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders are NOT eligible for this apprenticeship scheme.
  • Employment Exchange Registration is mandatory (current and valid as of 28/02/2026). Preference given to candidates registered in Karnataka.

2. Age Limit

Candidates must have completed 15 years and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 01 March 2026 (cut-off date).

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
• OBC: 3 years relaxation.

3. Mandatory Requirements

• Physical Fitness: Candidates must satisfy minimum standards as per the Apprentices Act, 1961. A medical certificate from a Gazetted Doctor (Assistant Surgeon or above) is required before engagement.
• Document Verification: Name, Father’s/Mother’s name, and Date of Birth must exactly match Matriculation certificates.

Selection Process

There is no written examination. Selection is purely based on merit.

1. Merit List: Prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th Standard (aggregate of all subjects).
2. Tie-Breaking Rule:
   • If marks are equal, the older candidate is preferred.
   • If age is also the same, the candidate who passed the 10th exam earlier is preferred.
3. Document Verification: Final selection is subject to verification of original testimonials.

Application Fee

Instructions: The IPO/DD must be drawn in favour of "Principal Financial Adviser / Rail Wheel Factory". Instruments issued before 28/02/2026 are invalid.

How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

Applications must be submitted Offline via Registered Post or Drop Box. Online submission is not available.

1. Download Forms: Visit the official website rwf.indianrailways.gov.in and download the Application Form (Annexure-A) and other relevant annexures (B, C, D, E, F).
2. Fill Application: Enter details carefully ensuring they match your Matriculation certificate. Affix a recent passport-size photo.
3. Prepare Documents: Enclose self-attested copies of:
   • 10th Marksheet & Certificate (with 50% marks).
   • NCVT Trade Certificate.
   • Caste Certificate (if applicable).
   • Employment Exchange Registration Card.
   • Passport size photographs.
   • IPO/DD (if applicable).
4. Checklist: Fill and sign Annexure-F (Checklist). Applications without this will be rejected.
5. Submission Options:
   • Drop Box: Drop the sealed envelope in the Box at the Office of the Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, Bangalore-560064 (Working days: Mon-Fri 09:00-16:50; Sat 09:00-12:20).
   • Registered Post: Send to: The Senior Personnel Officer-II, Personnel Department, Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, Bangalore – 560 064.
6. Superscription: Write on the envelope: "Application for undergoing training under the Apprentices' Act, 1961 for the year 2025-26 in Rail Wheel Factory".
7. Deadline: Submit before 17:00 hrs on 01 April 2026. Late applications will be rejected.
