In terms of the instructions issued vide Railway Board's letter No.E(NG)I-93/PM2/16 dtd.20.08.1993 RBE No.129/1993) and other instructions issued from time to time, applications are hereby invited ONLINE for filing up of 147 posts of Goods Train Manager (Erstwhile Goods Guard) in level-5 in Operating Department on South Western Railway through General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) from all the eligible regular serving Railway employees of South Western Railway and RWFYNK as on the date of issue of notification.

Selection Procedure

1. The selection for the posts notified in this Notification will be by Computer Based Test (CBT) as mentioned at Para 3 above.

2. The questions set in the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be of Multiple Choice Objective Type. The question paper will be set in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages i.e. Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi & Konkani. The candidates have to give preference for any one of the above-mentioned languages, while submitting ONLINE application.

3. The standard of examination shall be like that of Direct Recruitment conducted by RRBs. The questions for the Computer Based Test (CBT) will generally be in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the post. The questions are likely to include subjects pertaining to General awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning. The question paper will have100 questions for NTPC categories each carrying one mark and the duration of the examination is 90 minutes.

4. There will be negative marking in CBT examination and marks will be deducted for each wrong answer 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

5. The Computer Based Test (CBT) examination will be conducted by RRCHubli and the date of examination will be notified by RRCI Hubli in due course through SMS on registered mobile numbers & E-Mail address registered in the applications and on website of RRC/SWR.

6. During examination candidates should read the instructions on the computer terminal DASH BOARD carefully and follow them scrupulously. Fallure to comply with the instructions may lead to disqualification of candidature.

7. The recruitment process may change for the post notified, as per the latest guidelines issued from time to time.

8. Employees selected under GDCE Scheme shall be subjected to initial training of the same duration prescribed for Direct Recruitees as the case may be.

The application portal will be open from 01-04-2022 till 25-04-2022 upto 23.45 hrs

2. In case any employee has any difficulty in registering his application ONLINE, they can use the Contact Us' button in the application portal. We will try to address your queries in two working days. Alternatively you also can send a mail to [email protected] or reply to any of the emails which they get during the course of registration.

3. To avoid last minute rush, candidates are advised in their own interest to register their applications ONLINE well before the closing date, since there may be possibility of failure inability to log on to the website of RRC/SWR on account of heavy load on the internet or website jam during last days. Candidates desiring to make any corrections in the application already filled can do so before being clicked FINAL SUBMISSION on ONLINE registration. After final submission and confirmation, no provision for editing the data is allowed.

4. The last date/ time for ONLINE registration is 25-04-2022 at 23.45 hrs. Railway Administration will not bear any responsibility if the candidates are not able to register their applications ONLINE within the last date/time, for any reason whatsoever

About South Western Railway

South Western Railway was created by amalgamating the re-organized Hubli division from South Central Railway and Bangalore & Mysore divisions from Southern Railway. It has been operational from 1st April 2003 having the headquarters at Hubli in the state of Karnataka. The Railway comprises of 03 divisions, viz. Hubli, Bangalore & Mysore and primarily caters to Karnataka state with 84% of its jurisdiction located there. The balance 16% of its route length falls in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa.

Bangalore division of this zone is passenger oriented while Hubli & Mysore divisions are fright oriented. Bangalore city is a world famous Information Technology hub of India. Hubli and Mysore are having important tourist places. This Railway hosts a large number of world heritage sites. Some of the important tourist destinations like Hampi ruins, Caves of Badami, Pattadakallu, Aihole, Goan Beaches come under the jurisdiction of Hubli division of this Railway. Mysore division caters to the World famous Dasara celebrations and other historic places like Hoyasala dynasty’s monuments in Belur, Halebeedu, Somanathapura and the famous Jogfalls.

There has been perceptible improvement in Railway services across Karnataka and its districts. After its formation 345 km of new line, 598 km of GC and 521 km of doubling have been commissioned. 110 numbers of new Express/Passenger trains have been introduced. Apart from this, services of many trains have been extended and frequency of some trains has been increased for the benefit of travelling public.
