Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • For Project Associate-I (Entomology):
    • Essential: Master’s degree in Life Science with specialization in Entomology/Agricultural Entomology/Zoology from a recognized university.
    • Desirable: Research experience in Tea Entomology, knowledge of AI/Machine Learning, insect collection, laboratory rearing, molecular biology, and advanced statistical software.
  • For Project Associate-I (Plant Pathology):
    • Essential: Master’s degree in Life Science/Botany/Agriculture with Plant Pathology or Mycology/Microbiology from a recognized university.
    • Desirable: Research experience in Tea Disease management, AI/Machine Learning, disease monitoring, sample collection, and molecular biology.

2. Age Limit & Relaxation

  • Maximum Age: 35 Years.
  • Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable as per DST (Department of Science & Technology) guidelines for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD).

3. Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to conduct field trials and laboratory bioassays.

About Tea Research Association

The Tocklai Tea Research Institute was established in 1911, at a site near the river Tocklai in Jorhat, Assam. The initial construction of a laboratory and two bungalows was funded by tea industry, subsidized by the national government of India, and the Indian states of Assam and Bengal.

The beginning of a new era of tea research in India was marked by the establishment of the Scientific Department of Indian Tea Association (ITA) in the year 1900. This was consolidated with the creation of the Tocklai Tea Research Institute in 1911. The formation of the Tea Research Association (TRA) in 1964 with Tocklai at the center of all activities further expanded the horizon of tea research to cover the entire Northeast India. Research on all aspects of tea cultivation and processing is carried out at Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Jorhat the oldest and the largest research station of its kind in the world. The present Chairman of TRA is Mr. PK Bezboruah.
