Applications in the prescribed form are invited from Indian nationals for direct recruitment on contractual basis for filling up the following posts in the Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU) at Dr. A.L.M Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras, Taramani, Chennai - 6001 13.

1. Name of the Post: Lab Technician

3. Essential Qualifications: Class Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab technology or Life Sciences with Diploma/ Certificate course in Clinical Lab technology or equivalent degree from a recognized University with minimum 1 year of working experience in a clinical/ research laboratory.

4. Desirable Qualification: Masters in Clinical Lab technology or in life sciences from a recognized University. Knowledge of Computer Applications/ Data Management.

5. Salary and other Service Conditions: For all the mentioned posts monthly pay (Rs. 20,000/- + HRA) will be given as per the DHR guidelines. For more information visit www.dhr.gov.in. All the posts were on contractual basis for the period of 4 years based on performance. All the employees are not provided with any pension benefits or other allowances. The guidelines of DHR will be strictly adhered whenever updated.

Selection Procedure

On the merit basis preliminary screening will be done and qualified candidates will be called for personal interview at Dr. A.L.M Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chennai. Selection will be purely based on merit as per the DHR guidelines. Interview call letters will be sent ONLY by e-mail. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidate for attending the interview. Decision of the selection committee is final.

About University of Madras

The University of Madras is a public state university in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Established in 1857, it is one of the oldest and among the most prominent universities in India, incorporated by an act of the Legislative Council of India under the British government.

In 1912 endowments were made to the University to establish departments of Indian History, Archaeology, Comparative Philology, and Indian Economics. In all, there were 17 University departments, 30 University teachers, 69 research scholars, and 127 University publications in that year and the budget was Rs.11 lakhs. Later, the research and teaching functions of the University were encouraged by the Sadler Commission and the gains of the University were consolidated by the enactment of the Madras University Act of 1923. At this time, the territorial ambit of Madras University encompassed Berhampur of Orissa and Hyderabad of Andhra Pradesh in the North, Trivandrum of Kerala in the South West, and Bangalore and Mangalore of Karnataka in the West.
