Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) at Dehradun. This is an autonomous institution of Department of Science & Technology (DST), GoI, which came into being in 1968. It has been pursuing basic researches to unravel the orogeny of majestic Himalaya and provide improved understanding on seismogenesis, geodynamic processes, climate-tectonic interactions, evolution and extinction of life, ore formation, glaciology, river system, natural hazards (landslides, floods, and earthquakes), anthropogenic impact etc. towards the well-being of population and safe-guarding the properties and structures in the Himalaya and adjoining areas.

To significantly contribute in National development through sustained Geoscientific Research for secured living and sustainable development in Himalaya and, understanding the geodynamic evolution vis-à-vis climate variability in the orogen.

Questing for Himalayan Geodynamics, Seismogenesis, Natural Hazards, Climate Variability and Natural Resources to fulfil societal needs and pursue basic Geosciences.

Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology was established in June, 1968 in the Botany Department, Delhi University. The Institute was later shifted to Dehradun in April, 1976. Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun is an autonomous research institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology. In the early years major research activity was directed towards remote areas with difficult mountainous terrain and hard working conditions, as well as where the geological framework and geological knowledge were lacking. Now the research has been focused on some specialized areas of national as well as international relevance in both the western and eastern Himalayas. Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology recruitment offers great career opportunities for several posts such as Scientist, Assistant Publication & Documentation Officer, Senior Personal Assistant, Multi Tasking Staff (MTS), Principal Scientist, Stenographer, Technical Assistant, Section Cutter, Bearer, Lower Division Clerk. Interested candidates can pursue courses in M.Sc. degree in Geology/Geophysics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics, M.Sc. with B.Lib science/ B.Sc. with M.Lib, Graduate + possessing a speed of 120 w.p.m. in English shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in English typing, Matriculation or ITI, Doctorate degree in Earth Sciences, 10+2, B.Sc./BCA or Diploma in Engineering/ Tech, M.E./M.Tech. in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Or First class BE / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation, Intermediate + English typing speed of 35 w.p.m. or Hindi typing speed of 30 w.p.m. on computer, for a great career at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology.
