The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun invites application for Walk-in-interview for engaging Senior Project Associate I (1 position), Project Associate – II (1 position) and Project Associate - I (1 position)for the Consultancy Project entitled “Estimation of economic losses in real term per hectare basis due to forest fire in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh” purely on contractual basis for a period of 6 months.
A. Brief description of the project:
i. A multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional project “Estimation of economic losses in real term per hectare basis due to forest fire in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh” has to be conducted on pilot basis in the forest fire prone forest types of Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh to develop a framework methodology for estimation of economic losses in real terms on per hectare basis.
ii. This multi-facet project has several objectives as per the institutional expertise, however, the Wildlife Institute of India has to focus mainly for terrestrial and avi-faunal aspects.
iii. This will provide a framework/approach/methods/tools and techniques to estimate tangible and intangible losses due to forest fire on per hectare basis and may be used in other similar forests/areas.

2. Essential Qualification (EQ): Post Graduate Degree in Wildlife Science/Forestry/ Biodiversity Conservation/Zoology/Environmental Science from a recognized University with 60% Marks with at least two years of field research experience
3. Desirable Qualification (DQ):
Preference will be given to the candidate having working experience in Ecological economics/Environmental accounting/RS & GIS related studies. The candidate should have experience in habitat quantification using different approaches, wildlife surveys, occupancy analysis, population estimation. Additional skills in R, GIS and Statistics will be an advantage
4. Description of Work:
Conduct and coordinate field investigation with team members on the assessment of wildlife values, natural resource use, land use through participatory processes, conducting workshops, consultations, writing reports, preparation of maps, presentations, report writing and other project related activities
5. Emoluments: Rs 42,000/- month + HRA as applicable

1. The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee
2. The shortlisted candidates will be notified (through email and website notification) for online personal interview by 3 January, 2022.
1. The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments, by email (with subject line: “Application for the post of Project Associate I (02 Nos) in Project (Estimation of economic losses in real term per hectare basis due to forest fire in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh) to [email protected] later than 1700 hrs on 28 thDecember, 2021.
2. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of application will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.
3. Application forms needs to be typed according to the prescribed format and must be accompanied by:(a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be considered.

5. The online interview will be held on 4 January, 2022 from 1000 hrs onwards.
6. The prescribed essential qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview.
7. The selection to the aforesaid post will be on the basis of personal interview which will be conducted by a duly constituted Selection Committee.
8. However, if the number of applications received for a particular post(s) is large, then Institute reserves the right to lay down any criteria for the purpose of short listing of the candidates for interview

2. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.
3. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand abolished after completion of the project.
4. The tenure in the project will be governed by the Institute’s rules and regulations.
5. Relaxation in Age will be given as per Govt. of India norms.
6. After announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project immediately.
7. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
