KEA Recruitment 2026 – Overview

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued Advt No. ED/KEA/40/Ne.Vi/2026 (KK) for 31 vacancies in 6 engineering and planning roles under the Kalyana-Karnataka local cadre. Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Assistant Town Planner: Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution, or Diploma in Civil Engineering (General), or Diploma in Civil Engineering (Draftsmanship).
• Junior Engineer (Civil) – Karnataka Housing Board: Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institution recognised by the Government.
• Junior Engineer (Civil) – Greater Bengaluru Authority: Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering (General), Diploma in Civil Engineering (Draftsmanship), Diploma in Architectural, or Diploma in Architectural Assistantship (C-20 syllabus).
• Junior Engineer (Mines and Geology): Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institution recognised by the Government.
• Junior Engineer (Civil) – Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited: Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institution recognised by the Government.
• Junior Engineer (Civil) – Agricultural Marketing Department: Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institution recognised by the Government.

Desirable: Preference for candidates trained in AutoCAD (Junior Engineer, Greater Bengaluru Authority).

Other Conditions

• Must be an Indian citizen and physically and mentally fit for duty.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Competitive Examination: Paper-1 (General Knowledge, 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours) and Paper-2 (Post-specific syllabus, 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours) – Offline OMR format with objective multiple-choice questions (4 options + 1 for unanswered).
2. Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted per incorrect answer; a fifth OMR option must be shaded for unanswered questions or 0.25 marks are deducted per question.
3. Qualifying Marks: Minimum 35% in the competitive examination.
4. Kannada Language Test: Compulsory (unless exempted), maximum 150 marks, minimum 50 marks to qualify. Marks are not counted for selection ranking. Scheduled for 8 January 2027, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
5. Online Counselling: Option entry through login after results, Candidate Verification Slip, and mock allotment. Options cannot be submitted by hand or post. Each candidate may be selected for only one post.
6. Provisional Selection List: Published in 1:1 ratio based on merit, eligibility, and reservation rules.
7. Document Verification: Original documents verified by the appointing authority (not by KEA).

Tie-Breaking Rule: If marks tie, the older candidate ranks higher. If age also ties, higher marks in the qualifying examination decide the ranking.

Probation: Candidates selected by direct recruitment undergo a two-year probation period.
