The fundamental minimum educational qualification required for the vast majority of SSC CGL posts is a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • General Posts: A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline is the essential qualification for posts such as Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Auditor, Tax Assistant, etc.
  • Specialized Posts: Certain posts have additional specific educational requirements:
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor's Degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level, OR a Bachelor's Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects in all three/four years of the degree course.
Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)/Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO): Bachelor's Degree is essential; desirable qualifications include Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant, Company Secretary, M.Com, MBA (Finance), or Masters in Business Economics.

Final Year Eligibility: Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are provisionally eligible to apply for the examination. They must, however, possess the requisite educational qualification on or before the crucial date stipulated in the official notification. Failure to produce the degree proof by this date, usually the final date of receiving the application, will result in disqualification.
