As per Apprentices Act, 1961, candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training for 1 year or more, or have job experience of 1 year or more after attaining the essential qualification, are not eligible. Also, candidates who are pursuing or have completed apprenticeship with similar qualifications in other organizations or in AAI are not eligible.

The selection is purely merit-based with the following stages:
No TA/DA is provided for interview/joining. The candidature is provisional until all documents are verified.
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and AAI policy. The stipend includes a share from AAI and, for Graduate/Diploma apprentices, a Government contribution under the DBT scheme.
