Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Assistant Professor (Clinical and Non-Clinical)

  • Essential: PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC. The candidate should possess the prescribed academic qualification as on the date of notification (01/01/2026).
  • Experience: Candidates must have completed one year Senior Residency from a recognized institute after completion of the required qualification.
  • Additional Requirement: AP Medical Council Registration Certificate is mandatory. Candidates who have completed DNB from institutions not recognized by NMC must have completed one additional year of Senior Residency.

Eligibility for Assistant Professor (Super Specialty)

  • Essential: PG Degree (DNB/DrNB/DM/MCh) in the concerned super specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC. The candidate should possess the prescribed academic qualification as on the date of notification (01/01/2026).
  • Experience: Senior Residency is not required for super specialties.
  • Additional Requirement: AP Medical Council Registration Certificate is mandatory.

General Eligibility & Requirements

  • Local Status: Only Local Candidates of Andhra Pradesh are eligible to apply. Candidates who studied from 4th Class to 10th Class in the State of Andhra Pradesh are considered as local. Candidates who migrated to any part of AP from the State of Telangana within a period of 3 years from 2nd June 2014 are also eligible.
  • Age Limit: Minimum Age: 18 years; Maximum Age: 42 years (as of 01/07/2025).
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, BC and EWS; 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PBD); Ex-servicemen allowed to deduct age (3 years + service length).
  • Desirable/Restrictions: Candidates already working as Assistant Professors under Director of Medical Education are not eligible. No contract weightage marks will be awarded to Doctors working on Regular basis or who rendered contract service prior to their PG qualification.
  • Application Fee: OC (General): Rs. 2,000/-; SC/ST/BC/EWS/PBD: Rs. 1,500/-.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on merit and Rule of Reservation. Total Marks: 100.

  • Marks for Qualifying Examination: 75 Marks.
  • Weightage for Years Since Passing: 10 marks (@ 1 mark per year since PG/Super-specialty completion).
  • Central Institution Weightage: 5 marks.
  • Contract Service Weightage:
    • COVID-19 duties: @ 5.0 Marks per six months (0.83 Mark per completed month).
    • Tribal Area: @ 2.5 Marks per six months.
    • Rural Area: @ 2.0 Marks per six months.
    • Urban Area: @ 1.0 Mark per six months.
