Age Relaxation: In-service candidates of AAU / ICAR / CSIR / DST / SAUs and other Government institutions receive relaxation of up to 5 years based on years of service rendered, as supported by documents. SC / ST / OBC / PWD candidates receive relaxation as per norms of the Government of Assam.
Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Nationality / Residence: Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor & equivalent posts. The candidate must produce a Permanent Resident Certificate of Assam.
Common Qualification Requirements
- Master's Degree: Minimum 55% marks or MCGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale (or 7.00 on a 10-point scale) at the Master's degree level in the relevant discipline from an Indian or foreign university.
- NET Qualification: Must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET). NET is waived for candidates holding a Ph.D. obtained under the course credit system as per UGC Regulations, 2009, provided the candidate has at least two full-length publications with NAAS rating not less than 5 on the last date of application submission.
- PBAS Score: A minimum API-based PBAS score of 44 out of 80 (General) or 40 out of 80 (SC/ST) is required to be called for interview.
Discipline-Specific Qualifications
- Assistant Professor (most disciplines under Faculty of Agriculture & Community Science): Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Community Science / Veterinary Science (as relevant to the post). For Sericulture, the Bachelor's degree must be in Sericulture or Agriculture.
- Assistant Professor (Agro-meteorology): Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics or Meteorology as major subject, OR Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Veterinary Science / Community Science / Fisheries / Forestry. Master's degree must be in Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology.
- Assistant Professor (Agricultural Business Management): Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Veterinary Science / Community Science / Fisheries / Forestry / Agricultural Engineering. Master's degree in Business Administration, OR MBA / PGDM from reputed institutions (e.g., IIM) with two years of working experience in a reputed organization.
- Assistant Professor (Agricultural Statistics): Bachelor's degree in Science with Statistics as major subject, OR Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Veterinary Science / Community Science / Fisheries / Forestry. Master's degree in Statistics / Agricultural Statistics.

Selection Process & Screening Clause
- Online Application Screening: Applications are screened against prescribed academic and eligibility criteria, including PBAS score thresholds.
