Overview

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has issued a notification for the engagement of 710 apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the year 2026-27 through its HR–L&D Department. The programme includes 516 Trade Apprentice (ITI) seats, 124 Technician (Diploma) Apprentice seats, and 70 Graduate Apprentice seats across multiple engineering, science, and non-technical disciplines.

Candidates must register online on the Apprenticeship India portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) for ITI trades or the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) for Graduate/Diploma disciplines, then attend a walk-in selection interview at BSP Bhilai between 27 October 2026 and 21 November 2026. Selection is merit-based with no written test. This is a training engagement and BSP has no obligation to offer regular employment to apprentices during or after the training period.

A. Trade Apprentice (ITI) – 516 Seats

B. Technician (Diploma) Apprentice – 124 Seats & Graduate Apprentice – 70 Seats

Monthly Stipend: Trade Apprentice (ITI): ₹9,600 | Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: ₹10,900 | Graduate Apprentice: ₹12,300 – or as prescribed by MSDE, Government of India. For Diploma/Graduate apprentices, 50% of the stipend is funded by BSP and 50% from the Board of Apprenticeship Training under DBT mode.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Trade Apprentice (ITI): Passed ITI in the respective trade from a Government-recognized institute.
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: Engineering Diploma in the respective discipline from a Government-recognized institute.
• Graduate Apprentice: Degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA/BBA/B.Com etc.) in the respective discipline from a Government-recognized university/institute.
• Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible. The qualifying examination must have been completed as a regular candidate.
• Candidates whose qualifying-examination result is not yet declared as on 20 October 2026 are not eligible.
• Candidates already undergoing or who have undergone apprenticeship training at any establishment, or who have 1 year or more of job experience, are not eligible.

Age Limit

• Minimum: 18 years | Maximum: 28 years as on 31 October 2026
• Age relaxation for reserved categories as per Government of Chhattisgarh guidelines.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

There is no written test. Selection is entirely merit-based through a walk-in process, shortlisted on the basis of academic marks:

• 30% weightage to Class-X (Matriculation) marks
• 70% weightage to ITI / Diploma / Degree marks (as applicable)

No TA/DA will be paid to any candidate for attending the walk-in interview. BSP does not provide accommodation during training; apprentices must make their own arrangements.

Reporting Time for all slots: 09:30 AM – 10:30 AM. The management reserves the right to cancel the selection process at any point; the decision on selection is final.

• Canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification.
• Engagement is subject to being declared medically fit under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
