Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd, a CPSE under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers was created by demerger of Namrup Unit of Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Ltd to form a new CPSE. The company operates two Ammonia-Urea plants at Namrup viz. Namrup-II and Namrup-I, in the Upper Assam District of Dibrugarh with an effective capacity to produce 3.90 lakh MT of urea per annum. The Govt. of India is in the process of establishing a new Ammonia-Urea Project of higher capacity based on the latest technology, by forming a Joint Venture Company of CPSEs and Govt. of Assam, to be set up at the existing plant site of BVFCL by replacing both the old plants. The proposed project is likely to be completely based on Natural Gas, like the existing units

4. Job requirement: The incumbent will be responsible for the jobs of the Personnel department including reeruitment, selection, pay fixation, performance management, handling of personal details of the employees, personal files,IR matters & welfare etc.
5. Essential Qualification: Master in Business Administration (full time) with specialization Personnel Management and Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management or Graduate Degree | Diploma (full time) in Management &Industrial Relation/Human in Post Personnel Management/ Labour & Social Works with minimum 03 years post Resource professional qualification Executive experience in Personnel /Human Resource Department of a PSU/ large Private sector organization
6. Degree in Law is desirable. The incumbent should have thorough knowledge of Labour Laws and with the | latest HR practices related to Recruitment and Selection Manpower/ career planning, succession Planning, Pay fixation, disciplinary conciliation/ adjudication proceedings etc.

The Namrup Fertilizer Complex was renamed as Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited after bi-furcation from Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited from 01/04/02. It is located on the bank of dilli river in the south-western border of Dibrugarh District in Assam. It is the first factory in India, who use natural gas as basic raw material for producing nitrogenous fertilizer.
Till the sixties Namrup was not known to the rest of the country. Discovery of oil and natural gas in Naharkatiya region promoted a serious thinking on proper utilization of gas. Which had to be otherwise to be flared up.
Upon the recommendation of M/S Snodgrass Associates of USA ,they suggested utilization of this hidden treasure and suggested to produce a large number of utilities including chemical fertilizers and electricity. the then Ministry of Mines and Fuel appointed a Committee. headed by Shri S S Khera, ICS and based on its broad recommendation in respect of possible use of natural gas, a Technical Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. G P Kane did further studied the possibilities of setting up a fertilizer plant in Assam. while the Central Water and Power Commission was entrusted to explore the scope of setting up a power project based on this resource.
After making detailed techno-economic study, the Kane Committee recommended a fertilizer factory to be located at Namrup. Needless to say that Central Water & Power Commission too recommended favourably setting up of thermal power plant within a few distance from the fertilizer factory at Namrup.
