Educational Qualification & Experience:Graduate degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or Architecture with 18 years of experience (5 years managerial) in building materials/low-cost housing technology. Deputation candidates require equivalent service and grade in Government/PSU.
Job Responsibilities:Promoting innovative building materials and technologies, capacity building, natural disaster mitigation, project management and consultancy, administration and management of the Council, and overall supervision of the Council's programmes.
Age Limit:Direct Recruitment: Not exceeding 55 years. Deputation: Not exceeding 56 years. Contract: Maximum retiring age of BMTPC employees.
Salary (per month):
Level-14 Pay Matrix (₹1,44,200 - ₹2,18,200) plus allowances. Contract appointees receive consolidated remuneration as per rules.

In order to bridge the gap between research and development and large scale application of new building material technologies, the erstwhile Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, had established the BUILDING MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY PROMOTION COUNCIL in July 1990.
There has been a demand for setting up such an apex institution in order to provide an inter-disciplinary platform to various agencies under Central and State Governments and the private sector for scaling up proven technologies to enhance their wide-spread use and for assisting commercial production as well as systematic dissemination of appropriate technology for the benefit of the construction of appropriate technology for the benefit of the construction agencies and different sections of the population.
