About Central Forensic Science Laboratory

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad or popularly known as CFSL, Hyderabad, was established in the Year 1967 and is one of the six Central Forensic Science Laboratories in India. CFSL, Hyderabad is situated at Ramanthapur, which is about 10 km from the heart of the City. The Laboratory is presently working under the administrative control of the Directorate of Forensic Science Services, WS Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi.

This Laboratory is one of the Premier Forensic Laboratories in the country with 10 Divisions namely Ballistics, Biology, Chemistry, Digital Forensic (NCFL-E), DNA Profiling, Forensic Questioned Documents, Explosives, Toxicology, Physics, and Physiology. The Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad is committed to delivering quality work from all its functional disciplines and is having a strong vision to be the leading Forensic Science Laboratory of the Nation. This laboratory always tries to provide prompt and dependable services of international standards to the Criminal justice system with a Motto of Promoting good practices and standards.

The experts of CFSL examine the exhibits forwarded by various Law Enforcement and Investigating Agencies under the Central, State, and Public sectors and provide analysis Reports/Opinions. Further, they depose Evidence before the Hon'ble Judiciary/Enquiry authorities as EXPERT WITNESS and substantiate their reports/opinions.

This Laboratory also provides services/assistance to the Government Investigating Agencies in the search and seizure of evidence at the Scene of Crime. This Laboratory also imparts training in the field of Forensic Science through internal Skill development Programs/Modules and by deputing its Experts/ Scientists at various Central/State Police Training Institutions. The laboratory also undertakes R&D work in the field of Forensic Science.
