The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Bangalore, Karnataka was established in the year 1988 as a Center for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation (CMMACS).

The vision of Center for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation (CMMACS) is to power and scope of mathematical modelling and computing are poised to grow manifold. The Center would play a pivotal role by bringing in this emerging technology in its fullest power to the service of science and the nation.

The object of Institute is to develop capabilities for addressing critical issues of scientific significance and social benefit, to enhance the scope and strength of Mathematical Modelling through development of new techniques / algorithms by training and develop high quality manpower in the areas of Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation.
