Godavari and Bhima are the major rivers in the district. Godavari river flows through the northern border of Ahmednagar district. Pravara and Mula are her tributaries. Bhima river flows through the southern boundary of the district. Sina, Hanga and Ghod rivers flow from south to south. Land is divided into black reddish, black brawl and white.As per census 2011, 1584 villages (Ghanegaon, Sujalpur and Gondhavani along with three deserted villages) are dispersed in 14 talukas in the district.
