The college of Dairy Technology was introduced on the 8th August 2008 under the constituent institution of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Science University , Nagpur reserved for Indian council of Agriculture Research (ICAR).

Department of Dairy Technology is involved in teaching and extension activities. Department has received National Award in recognition of the outstanding Scientific contribution of the institution and student , IDA Best poster Awards and prize for National Dairy Product Judging contest. The Department of Dairy Technology has established a Mini Experimental Dairy Plant with a prime intention providing hand- on training on various aspects of milk processing.

Department of Dairy Economic, Extension & Management was started at college of Dairy Technology. This Department has been actively involved / participate in various extensive work carried out by extension cell of this institution.

The mission of institute is to provide the adequate knowledge and updated information to their students about technology and management. To propose research project of national and international importance and acquire maximum funding for the other agencies.
