Eligibility for Post-Doctoral Fellowship

• Essential Qualification: Ph.D. degree holders within three years of the award of the Ph.D. degree, or those who have submitted a Ph.D. thesis. Applicants about to submit their thesis are also eligible, subject to submission before award expiry.
• Experience: Research publications in high-impact-factor SCI journals are required.
• Nationality: Open to Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and up to 20 foreign nationals.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 35 years as on 27 January 2026.
• Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Disabled & Women; 3 years for OBC Non-Creamy Layer.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on the following:

• Candidates may apply at any time; selection takes place twice a year (June & December).
• Shortlisting based on applications received two months prior to the interview.
• Selection is based on the presentation of a research proposal and interview by a committee.
• Foreign nationals can be considered in absentia, subject to clearance by DIAT/DRDO HQ.

5. Ensure the application reaches on or before 27 January 2026.

Instructions

• Selected candidates must join within 2 months of appointment.
• Must undertake full-time research at DIAT.
• Annual progress evaluation is required for fellowship extension.
• DIAT alumni are not eligible for PDF at DIAT under this scheme.
• Selected candidates must acknowledge DIAT support in all publications, patents, and reports.
• Assist the department with PG/PhD student support and lab/conference duties.
• Accommodation is provided if available; medical benefits as per DIAT rules.
