DRDO DIHAR Recruitment 2026: Walk-in Interview Notification

The Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), a premier research center under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has announced recruitment for 25 temporary positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Research Associate (RA). Located in the strategic high-altitude region of Leh-Ladakh, DIHAR invites eligible candidates with engineering and science backgrounds to attend a walk-in interview.

Recruitment Type

This recruitment is NOT based on a competitive written examination. It is a Direct Recruitment based on Walk-in Interview. Candidates will be screened and interviewed on the same day (24-02-2026).

Eligibility Criteria

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Educational Qualification: B.Tech degree in First Division (60% or equivalent) in relevant engineering discipline. A valid GATE score in the respective engineering stream is mandatory.
• Age Limit: Maximum 28 years.
• Age as on: Age is calculated as of the walk-in interview date (24.02.2026).

2. Research Associate (RA)

• Educational Qualification: M.Tech degree in First Division at both Graduate (B.Tech) and Post-Graduate (M.Tech) levels in relevant discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of research, teaching, or design & development experience after M.Tech completion.
• Publication: At least one research paper published in an SCI (Science Citation Index) journal.
• Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.
• Age as on: Age is calculated as of the walk-in interview date (24.02.2026).

Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is available for SC, ST & OBC candidates as per Government of India orders.

Selection Process

Since this is a walk-in interview, there is no written exam. The selection process involves:

1. Reporting: Candidates must report by 08:45 AM on 24.02.2026 at DIHAR Base Station, Chandigarh.
2. Screening: Initial screening based on educational qualifications and eligibility criteria (at the venue).
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will face an interview on the same day.
4. Final Merit: Selection is based on interview performance and qualifications, following DRDO guidelines.
5. Benefits: No TA/DA will be provided for interview attendance or joining.

Application Fee

No application fee is required. Candidates can attend the walk-in interview directly without any fee payment.

How to Apply (Walk-in Instructions)

1. Do NOT send any written application prior to the interview.
2. Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria (Qualification, Age, GATE/Experience).
3. Prepare a neatly typed Bio-data containing all personal and educational details.
4. Gather all original certificates and photocopies (Degree, Marksheets, GATE Scorecard, Experience Certificates, Caste Certificate if applicable).
5. For RA applicants: Ensure you bring documents supporting research experience and published papers.
6. Arrive at the venue DIHAR Base Station, Chandigarh by 08:45 AM on 24-02-2026.
7. Attend the screening and interview on the same day.
